May 2nd.
What can I say, are we blessed by the footy gods or what, once again an absolutely perfect day for a game. As game time approached it was clear that there was going to be a large turnout, true enough. In the end we fielded 21 a side. It was decided that all players start on the field, as No.1 is not a small ground this was not seen as a problem.
Once again prior to the commencement of the game presentations were made. Adam received his trophies for Players Player from last year, well done Adam and in your current form you will be hard to pip this year. Brian was presented his 75 games award again for a photo opportunity and Rowey had a shot taken for his hairs prosperity, due to its impending departure.
The game was played at a fierce pace, if not confined to one side, due to the orientation of the No. 1 ground. The grand stand wing was vacant for much of the day, even with 42 players on the field. As usual the centre players (Fred, Doc, Adam, Sheeny, Eric) were bursting out of the middle with pace and poise only to be confronted with crowded forward lines to kick in to. This made life a bit easier for the back men to shine, in particular Ian Matthews (First game for the year), Yogi, Peter, Docko and Rowey, who were able to rebound with poise on many occasions. All in all this was a close hard fought game, played in great spirit as always, well done guys lets keep this spirit going. Also a big welcome back in to the fold to Hopey, John Holmquest and Dave Slattery. Great to see Greg Vanderpol from Sydney come up for a run as well. With this many numbers and the quality that is on display, it all looks good for us in the upcoming Carnivals. Let?s keep the numbers coming and remember newcomers are always welcome.
Special mention to John for umpiring, thanks mate, job well done.

Game 4 2010
18th April
Sunday morning in beautiful down town Teralba
Once again we were greeted by wonderful weather, so all was set for a great game. The numbers were a little slow to start, with only 9 a side being present just on kick off. There was a last minute rush and we ended up fielding 14 a side, good numbers for Teralba which is traditionally hard to attract numbers to, must have something to do with the size of the ground. There was a last minute hiccup as someone asked ?where are the jumpers?, this led to last minute panic, but El Presidente (Billy) saved the day by showing up at the death with the missing jumpers.
Prior to the commencement of the game a special presentation was made to Brian Phillips for reaching 75 games for the club. Congratulations Brian on this tremendous effort, as only the second member to achieve this milestone, it shows your level of dedication and commitment to the game, Look forward to seeing you reach 100 games. Well Done.
The game started
at a furious pace with both sides evenly matched, as usual the pace out of the
centre was phenomenal, with last years players player Adam, showing a clean pair
of heels to most. As usual Eric and Johnny Sheehan were all over the place and
with Mal Smith looking fitter and faster than ever, the skill was a delight to
witness. Young Scotty playing in only his second game got lots of the ball and
received a huge roar when he hit a leading forward on the chest for the first
time. The skill and pace persisted throughout the day, with Jeff Ski kicking 11
goals as a resting full forward, Mendes again providing run out of the Back line
as well as flashes of brilliance from players like Bob Hunter, Clarkey, Dave and
Bill Mitchell. The pace faded a little in the last quarter as weariness set in,
along with some minor injuries, we finished with 12 a side. All in all a great
day was had by all, good to see the numbers growing, with new faces turning up
week after week. Thanks to David who turned up for a game, forgot his gear, but
umpired for us anyway, this is the spirit that keeps this club going.

Game 2 2010
28th March
Game 1 2010
20th March and a warm day beckoned.
Luckily someone the Committee had decided to schedule the day to begin at 3:30PM.
As per usual though the game didn't get under way until almost 4:30PM.
By that time it had cooled down just a tad.
The girls and a group of Nelson Bay senior players were ensconsed in the shady areas near the clubhouse to either watch the game or heckle the old farts trying to play footy..
15 players a side took to the field with enthusiasm you wouldn't see in and under 8 juniour game (with skills to match).
Quite a few new faces put in an appearance and all thoroughly enjoyed the relaxed style of footy we play. A knee of thigh injury to Spence in the 3rd quarter was the only discernable injury for the day. With Spence being as tough as old boots I reckon he will be back on the paddock next week.
A full match report is being put together and should be available by mid week.
